This is a list of people that can help you if you are in need of help. They can help you with things such as purchasing merchandise, attaining Steam Powered Giraffe music legally (through digital means or otherwise), funding travel expenses for trips to see the band, and providing you with a place to stay if you are travelling or need a safe house.  There is also a list of people who you can contact and talk to if you need moral support. Every person on this list is contactable through tumblr, and will attempt to assist you in the ways that they have volunteered to.

Ruffy was basically kicked out today.

No, not “basically.”

His dad told him to get out and not come back.

I talked to him a lot today, trying to help.

If you don’t know his situation… well, I won’t share anything he hasn’t put on his blog. The short of it is that his parents are intensely bigoted, don’t respect him, his dad beats the shit out of him for little to no reason, his mom refuses to acknowledge that this is a problem, and then makes fun of him for being scared, and both of them belittle his fears and shortcomings. And that’s that. His mom kicked him out the other day, and then convinced him to come back… that ended up with his father whaling on him again a couple days later.

And we come to today, when he was disowned by his dad. 

His mom spent a lot of time alternating between trying to guilt him into coming back, telling him he was stupid for being scared, and passive-aggressively telling him that she was going to turn herself in for child abuse (then insinuating that if Ruffy’s siblings were hurt in any way, it was his fault.)

Ruffy eventually came to the decision- the right one, and a very mature one in my opinion- that he was going to go to the police and tell them what’s been going on. I haven’t heard from him for a few hours, but that’s probably because that’s where he is.

Tumblr, I really need your assurance. Not for me. For Ruffy.

Reassurance that he’s doing the right thing. That none of this is his fault. That he’s worth standing up for himself. And that everything is going to be okay.

I think he needs to hear it. He doesn’t always believe that people care about him, because he doesn’t think he’s worth it.

And he really needs to hear that that isn’t true today. He’s been through hell, and there’s still more to go. He needs to know that we all have his back.

i consider joe to be my best friend. and i need him to be okay. i need him to be safe, and he needs it, too. he is a wonderful person and deserves to be treated right. i think he is doing a good, brave thing by telling the police.

he knows this, but i want to reiterate that i will do absolutely anything to make sure he is safe. i have his back. and i always will.

And Why?

Over the summer I lost my scholarships. The one that awarded the least money was returned to me, but the one that would have helped me pay my rent has gone the way of the dinosaurs. I’ve been attempting to acquire a job, but if the one that I interviewed for falls through I probably will not have the time to go searching for another job. 

I’m a full time theatre and art student, so most of my time is taken up by projects and work, and I need money, to eat, and take care of the vet bills for my cat who’s currently suffering from ringworm, and to pay rent, or assist in paying rent.

We’ve been dealing with some stuff. Some of us got sick, others started university again, and others still lost internet, so we’ve been awol. BUT, WE’RE ALL BACK AND HAVE A PODCAST PLANNED FOR THIS WEEKEND. AND A REGULARLY PLANNED SCHEDULED.

So once upon a time, I had a dream/nightmare that I went to the San Diego Zoo and met Jon, and while going in for a hug, he HIT ME IN THE FACE. It was a stupid dream, yes, and hilarious in retrospect, but it was a dream nonetheless.

In San Diego this past weekend, I had a chance to talk to Jon while he was walking around, and I asked him if he wouldn’t mind punching me in the face. I expected a “WHAT?!” sort of reaction, but instead, he just readily agreed and made a fist. I laughed, and said “Well. Not really punching me in the face…” He laughed and said “No? You sure?”

After a moment of giggling, he asked me “Okay, how do you want to do this?” I had absolutely no idea. I told him as much. He just smiled, and gave me a few ideas, that sounded far beyond anything I could ever pull off in a picture. He asked again “How are you planning on reacting..?” I told him I didn’t know. I suddenly felt stupid and useless, and when he asked again, how I planned on this picture working, I just gave a nervous sort of laugh and awkwardly said: “You’re the mime!” He smiled, said “Oh yeah! I am!” and took a step back. He looked things over, gave me some really basic directions, went over it a few times with me, and we finally posed for the picture. And for not being able to keep a straight face while one of the most adorable people I’ve ever met hit me in the face, I don’t think it turned out so bad.

After this picture was taken (by the lovely trekkiebeth, of course, who was snapping pictures the entire time!), I asked if he wouldn’t mind posing for one more picture. Just a ‘normal cute one?’ He happily nodded and put his arm around me and pulled me toward him. While we were smiling for Beth’s camera, Jon suddenly turned toward me, put his face close to mine, and quietly asked in a serious tone: “Why did you want me to punch you in the face?”

Then I awkwardly had to tell Jon that I had a dream about him before I came to the zoo. I thought for sure, he’d burst out laughing. I was definitely not expecting THIS:


“OH HONEY NOOOOOO!!!! I would never do thaaat!!”

Silly Jon. I never in a million years thought you would. But thanks for confirming my beliefs— that you are absolutely wonderful.

And that, folks, is how I gained a whole new appreciation of just how awesome Jon Sprague is.
